MUSC 283/3.0 Brass Techniques and Methods

This course is an introduction to the basic techniques and methods of brass instruments and their application to teaching through specialized work on one brass instrument (trumpet, trombone or euphonium).  Students will be evaluated on individual and group performances, and in a written test. They will demonstrate their knowledge of pedagogical strategies for teaching brass instruments, brass repertoire, study of ranges, fingerings, basic instrument maintenance, teaching techniques and transposition for brass instruments. Rental instruments are available.  Enrolment is limited.

NOTE Students will need to access their own instrument(s) and rental options will be made available on the first day of class if needed.
