Baylie Thorne is a musician and private Suzuki violin teacher from Kingston, Ontario. From studying at a young age in the Canta Arya School for Strings, she became the Concertmaster of the Kingston Youth Orchestra, member of the Stringtown Orchestra at Queen’s Community Music, and part-time musical entertainer. She began her B.Mus degree at Memorial University of Newfoundland, studying under violinist Nancy Dahn. Her passion for teaching and conducting evolved during her time as a high-school student when she led and conducted a string quartet, The Stairwell Strings, taught the Grade 7 and 8 strings class in the L.E.A.P Program during her time as a co-op student, and post-graduation was asked to be a guest conductor for the L.C.V.I beginner strings program. She believes that the power of music as a life-altering experience should be available to everyone, and hopes to better the lives of her students through music.
