MUTH 160/260/360/460/1.5

Build your performing experience by exploring the possibilities of opera! This course will serve as a practical introduction to the art of operatic performance as part of a dynamic operatic ensemble. Students will spend time working on developing and preparing operatic materials, studying theories and techniques, and finally creating and performing operatic excerpts. Topics will include auditioning for opera, rehearsal techniques, score preparation, diction, acting for opera, and the maintenance of proper operatic vocal technique. We will spend considerable time honing ensemble and musical collaboration skills. We will be touring a collectively designed and managed show of opera scenes to local schools and community centers. Roles will be assigned after open auditions are held in early September (open to everyone).

NOTE: No audition required
