Queen's University

Queen's Opera Ensemble

The Queen’s Opera Ensemble has been operating for three years, first under the umbrella of the Chamber Music Ensemble Courses and in 2017 under the course code MUTH 160. The ensemble performed a concert of opera scenes in the Fall of 2016 and a full production of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas in the Winter of 2017. In 2017-18 there will be two full concerts of opera scenes one each in the Fall and Winter terms, possibly two hours in length each, including repertoire from the Baroque to Modern eras.  They will be staged and performed in costume with minimum set and lighting.  It will be a great opportunity for all singers to perform in a lead role.  All excerpts will be 15 minutes or less in duration and performances will be held again in Convocation Hall.

Interested in joining us? Check out our All About Auditions page. Auditions for 2017-18 will be held the week before classes begin in the fall semester.
