Neil Spaulding

Adjunct Lecturer (French Horn)


Neil studied French horn with Scott Wilson, Wayne Jeffrey and Eugene Rittich at the University of Toronto and with Ifor James in Freiburg, Germany. Since 1990 he has been a freelance musician performing with orchestras across Canada including the Canadian Opera Company, the National Ballet, the Victoria Symphony, the Winnipeg Symphony, Symphony Nova Scotia, and the Kitchener- Waterloo Symphony. Currently he holds the position of Second Horn with the Hamilton Philharmonic.

He enjoys both chamber and new music and has appeared with the Music Toronto Chamber Series, Continuum, Array Music and the Esprit Orchestra. He has made numerous appearances at the Festival of the Sound as a member of the Festival Winds. He has enjoyed playing with many artists, including Brian Wilson, Ray Charles, Diana Krall, the rock band “YES,” Dionne Warwick and The Boss Brass.

Neil has lectured at the University of Toronto, the University of Victoria and the National Youth Orchestra. He has taught at Queen’s University since 1997.
