Orchestra [MUSC 115/215/315/415 (002)]

MUSC 115/215/315/415 (002)/1.5 Queen’s Orchestra

Director, Wolf Tormann

The Queen’s Orchestra is directed by Wolf Tormann and is open to Queen’s University students who play an orchestral instrument after passing a successful audition. String players in particular are encouraged to apply.

Rehearsals will take place once a week, Fridays from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm in the rehearsal hall of the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts.

This change in schedule has been made to have less course conflict for students who are not in the BMUS program but would like to join the orchestra, and because of possible collaborations with Canta Arya.

The Fall Term concert will focus on a classical size orchestra with repertoire that will include a baroque orchestral Suite, a classical Symphony and romantic or contemporary repertoire that is suitable for a smaller size orchestra.

The centrepiece for the Winter Term concert will be Tangorium. Tangorium is a new Canadian Orchestral Tango-fusion show, scored for orchestra with clarinet and digital accordion soloists and will be eloquently performed and narrated by the internationally acclaimed Canadian Duo Bridge and Wolak. The concert will also feature Sirui Chen, concerto/aria competition winner 2019, in a performance of Tchaikovsky, Rococo Variations.

Rehearsals will take place in the Isabel Bader Rehearsal Hall.
