Puppetry Design [DRAM 339]

DRAM 339/3.0


This course offers an introduction to the basics of puppetry, including design, construction, and performance creation. Class time will be devoted to lectures, group work, and studio work. Students will spend the term learning about various forms of puppetry and devising a puppetry piece that will be performed at the end of the term.

Lectures and demonstrations will be posted in advance via video for asynchronous delivery. One hour per week will be a live class via Zoom for discussion about the lectures and demonstrations. There will also be two hours per week of optional studio time via Zoom, during which students can work on their projects with the assistance of the instructor. There will be no exam, but students will be expected to submit a puppetry performance via video at the end of the term. 

Open to students in a Drama or Muth plan with DRAM 240 and third year standing.
