Established by Marsha and Dr. Spruce Riordon in recognition of the outstanding academic achievements and far-reaching scholarly influence of their brother and brother-in-law, Christopher Lewis (Ph.D., Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester), renowned music theorist and gifted teacher until his untimely death in 1992. Awarded annually to a student in the third or fourth year of the Bachelor of Music or B.A. (Hons.) Music program for the best research paper in music theory or musicology. These are judged “blind”. Assignments are recommended by faculty and students are to submit three unmarked copies to Dr. Kip Pegley by April 30. Award: $600.
