Solus related Questions
Enrolment Appointment Times were released through SOLUS on July 13. To find your Enrolment Appointment Time, go into your SOLUS Student Centre. Click on the “Manage Classes” tile, then select “Enrolment Dates” from the left-side navigation. Select a term and then view the first time listed next to “Regular Academic Session” to locate your earliest Enrolment Appointment Time.
Please visit our SOLUS Help page, which include excellent video tutorials on how to use SOLUS, here: SOLUS Help.
To ensure you are viewing all course options in SOLUS, please use the “Additional ways to search” function under “Class Search and Enrol” in the “Manage Classes” tile. Once you have selected a subject, click “Search” and you will be able to toggle other search filters such as class open/closed status and course career. We also have video tutorials relating to course selection here: Course Selection SOLUS Tutorials.
Perform a search via the Class Search and Enrol feature then select the Undergraduate Online filter on the left-hand side. If you are trying to register for an online course, but are getting an error saying that the seats are “reserved for students in other programs”, that is because all of the remaining seats in these courses are being held for students enrolled in a Distance Career. This restriction will be removed on the first day of the applicable term and you may enrol in these courses at that time provided there is still space available. If there is space on the waitlist, add yourself to it and you may be enrolled once these restrictions are lifted on the first day of classes.
To take more than six courses/18.0 units in any term, you must seek special permission from an Academic Advisor. Further information including the course overload request form, can be found under Course Planning and Options, under course overload Course Planning and Options webpage.
SOLUS will allow you to go on a wait list for a class that is in conflict with an enrolled class, but you will never be enrolled into the class even if space opens up. SOLUS will not enrol you in a conflict. If your plan is to drop the conflicting class in place of the wait listed class, be sure to use the “SWAP” function when you add yourself to the wait list for the desired class. By using the swap function, SOLUS will add you to the wait listed course when a space becomes available and also drop you from the class you choose to swap.
- You are trying to add yourself to a wait list before the start of your enrolment appointment time.
- You have exceeded the maximum number of units allowed for the term.
- You are trying to exceed the maximum number of wait list units.
- You do not meet the course requisites.
- There are no more wait list seats available for the course.
- You have a hold on your record that blocks enrolment.
Classes, labs, and tutorials will all end 10 minutes earlier than you see on the schedule - e.g., a class that is scheduled from 1:30-2:30 pm will actually end at 2:20. That 10 minute window will give you plenty of time to make it from any one building on main campus to another.
The exception to watch for is if a class located at Duncan McArthur Hall is scheduled back-to-back with a class at a building on main campus. Duncan McArthur Hall is on west campus, which is about a 15-20 minute walk from main campus. At least a half-hour gap should be scheduled between classes on west campus and classes on main campus.
You will need to reach out to the Registrar’s Office, as our office does not administer fees. You can contact them at 613-533-2040.

See the list for courses on offer this year (2026-27) at the DAN School. Start with adding courses that are required for your degree, and then add your options. There will always be an updated version of this PDF on the DAN School website.
Think about your post-degree plans! If you are off to grad school, consult websites for programs you are applying to to see what their requirements are. If you are off to a B. Ed., consider courses that have an Education focus, or that offer you a well-rounded set of skills (in MUSC these may be Techniques courses, for example). If you are off to Law School or Medical School, again think about what will help you application be compelling and competitive. Don't forget ENIN (Entrepreneurship & Innovation courses)!
Not all courses are offered every year. Many of our courses, even required ones, are offered on rotation. Music Techniques courses rotate, for example, as do Theatre Design topics courses, along with most upper-level courses in DRAM and MUSC.
Please fill out this form with your request. We would ask that you do not follow up by email unless it’s been 3 working days since your application:

Unfortunately, no. Courses can only be counted once in degree requirements.
Example: MUSC 392 cannot be counted in the CORE section of the BMus degree plan and also be counted as an 300+ level course in the OPTIONS. It can only count towards the CORE.
