Rainforest IV is an immersive performed sound sculpture piece first realized in 1973 in a workshop led by renowned composer David Tudor. Tudor's vision for “an electronic ecology” is brought to life this summer on its 50th anniversary, with sounds played through curious objects of varying size, structure, and material. These objects act as acoustic filters to transform sounds, such as field recordings and electronic sounds, and guests are welcome to explore this immersive sound sculpture experience through hearing, sight, and touch.

The opening live performance on July 13th, 2023 from 4pm-9pm will take place at the Grand Theatre (in the Baby Grand). Guests are welcome to come and go as they please and explore the space as the performers create the “electronic ecology" in real time over 5 hours. From July 14th-22nd, the Rainforest IV will be open daily as an installation from 10am-4pm, and again guests are welcome to come and go and explore as they wish.

Rainforest IV is free and open to the public at the Baby Grand Theatre, 218 Princess St., Kingston, ON.
