Sway

Sway is the third project launched by The Accessible & Inclusive Music Theatre. Weekly sessions at Providence Care Hospital will feature singing and dancing exercises to support vocal health, stability, movement, coordination, and creativity.

This pilot study aims to examine the effects of a weekly dance/movement and singing-based arts program on the selfhood and well-being of older adults receiving hospital treatment. Our primary objective is to investigate how imagination, creativity, and play impact the well-being and selfhood of older adults whose participation in the program has been deemed beneficial by a clinician. Additionally, we aim to identify and refine best practices in arts-as-prescription and to enhance the understanding of the arts' role in healthy aging within hospital care settings.
