The DAN School of Drama and Music held the first annual Welcome Barbecue at the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts over the lunch hour on Friday, September 16, 2022. The event was designed to welcome new and returning students who are connected to the Dan School through their program of study or hope to do this in the future.
Meals for first-year students were free and only $5 for everyone else. After lunch, the event moved into the concert hall, where Julia Brook, Director of the Dan School, provided opening remarks and Gisèle Dalbec-Szcesniak outlined the new Lectures, Masterclasses and Workshop Series. Professor Emeritus, Tim Fort, with the assistance of current faculty member Melissa Morris, then gave a music-theatre inspired presentation titled, Trying to Solve a Problem Like Maria by Being More Chill, wonderfully captured on this video below.
