Dr. Stephanie Lind, multiple winner of the DAN School of Drama and Music Teaching Award, is an Associate Professor who teaches a variety of courses in music theory, analysis, and musicology. Her research interests include video game music, transformational theory, and contemporary Canadian art music. Her research contributions include articles in Intersections, The Soundtrack, Music Theory Online, Perspectives of New Music, presentations at numerous conferences, several book chapters, and the book Authenticity in the Music of Video Games, published by Lexington Press in 2023. She currently holds a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada Insight Grant focusing on the intersection of musical structure and instrumentation with gameplay narrative.
Known for her interactive teaching style, Stephanie Lind has participated in numerous activities meant to broaden students’ teaching and learning experiences. She has sponsored and supervised students in the University Summer Student Research Program/Fund, collaborated on student colloquium presentations, and mentored several student submissions to undergraduate and professional journals. She is an advocate of technology in the classroom and in research. She is also an active participant in community music, through both Queen’s Music and the greater Kingston community, as a woodwind player and as an ensemble vocalist.
