Managing Director, Canadian Opera Company
Robert A. Lamb was appointed Managing Director of the Canadian Opera Company in September 2002. Shortly thereafter he was also appointed Vice President of the Canadian Opera House Corporation. Mr. Lamb came to COC from Genovese, Vanderhoof & Associates, one of North America’s leading management consulting firms specializing in assisting performing arts institutions, museums and galleries, and heritage/preservation organizations to maximize their earned and contributed revenues. He joined Genovese, Vanderhoof & Associates as partner in 1998 directly from the Toronto International Film Festival Group where he had served as Director of Development and Marketing for five years. Mr. Lamb began his career at the Stratford Festival, the largest repertory theatre in North America, where he was responsible for Group Sales and Tourism. He worked for the Canadian Opera Company from 1985 to 1993, ultimately becoming Director of Development with an annual campaign of $4.5 million in private philanthropy and $6 million in government grants. From August 2007 to October 2008, Rob held the position of Acting General Director of the Canadian Opera Company, managing the two operating companies through its leadership transition period. Mr. Lamb is currently on the Board of the Canadian Art Foundation. He has been a guest lecturer at the arts administration programs at York University, the University of Toronto, and the Income Managers Program at the University of Waterloo. Mr. Lamb holds a degree in business from Wilfrid Laurier University.
