Workshops for Ages 5-8

Puppets & Play

With four provided templates and things around the house, follow the Barefoot Players as we assist your children in constructing a puppet friend, and help bring them to life through acting games.

Impulse Imagination

For this workshop the only thing you need is your imagination and a desire to take risks! Come along with the players as you learn to explore new movements, voices, and stories together.

Broadway Babies

We’ll explore the multi-faceted world of music theatre involving singing, dancing and acting. With lots of dancing we will learn to sing and dance at the same time and have lots of fun jamming to favorite Broadway tunes!

Once Upon a Time…

Stories are important! Together we will teach children ways to create, express, and listen to one another stories that can range from anything mythical and spectacular to our own personal journeys.

Dress Your Best

Theatre is so much more than just acting… Theatre is also using costume to present different characters! We encourage your children to arrive dressed in a costume that they’ve made, that they already own, or that they absolutely love as we explore costume design. We’ll go through the process of costume creation through crafting and play, and how what we wear can affect how we play our characters!

Workshops for Ages 9-12

Art Comedy Creation

Step back in time with the Barefoot Players to 15th century Italy! Commedia Dell’arte is a timeless form of theatre, filled with numerous comedic archetypes that have influenced our favourite characters in entertainment today. Create and decorate our own commedia masks, and explore various characters that Commedia Dell’arte has to offer.

Impulse Imagination

This workshop teaches acting technique with a focus on play, text, connection, and movement. Through various exercises and team-based activities, you will be sure to come away with a deeper understanding of acting principles and a love for performance!

Foley-ing Around

A Foley Artist is a sound artist who creates sounds in the movies, shows, and theatre we watch everyday! From thunder to lighting to the squeak of shoes, let your child explore the numerous ways they can recreate sound in this workshop.
