About the DAN School

Welcome to the DAN School of Drama and Music. We are committed to nurturing and mentoring tomorrow's cultural leaders through our undergraduate and graduate programs, research, and through our many events, concerts, and colloquia.

Our programs are designed to reflect the current needs of our society through the study of the role of drama, music, and music theatre in society, along with opportunities to develop performance, creation, teaching, and leadership skills.

We aim to balance structure and flexibility, disciplinary knowledge and interdisciplinary interactions, and liberal arts and a practical education. Students can specialize in a range of areas and engage in a variety of hands-on and practical learning.

The DAN School of Drama and Music at Queen’s University was founded in 2016, following the merger of the former Department of Drama (founded 1947) and School of Music (founded 1969). In principle, The DAN School embraces all the many disciplines that collaborate to realize the professional performing arts.

We look forward to collaborating with alumni, students, faculty, staff, and community members to continue to support and develop drama, music, and music theatre at Queen's and beyond.
