Music
Cheryl is a graduate of Western University’s Faculty of Music (BMus Hon., MMus) and Queen’s University’s Cultural Studies program (PhD), where her research focused on women’s leadership and influence in music and the ways representation is shaped within the industry. She teaches music education courses at the DAN School of Drama and Music and a course on Theory and Professional Practice in the Faculty of Education at Queen’s.
A certified intermediate/senior music and history teacher, Cheryl also brings over a decade of experience teaching in the college system. With extensive expertise in curriculum design and instructional development, she has created innovative, industry-relevant learning experiences across the post-secondary sector. Her scholarship includes publications and conference presentations on universal design for learning, community music, feminist perspectives in music, and jazz history. Alongside her academic work, Cheryl remains an active clarinetist, clinician, and coach, supporting youth and community music ensembles.
