Natalie Rewa, Professor Emerita Department of Drama, Dan School was also cross-appointed to the Departments of Cultural Studies and Women’s Studies.

Natalie was editor and later Managing Editor of Canadian Theatre Review from 1987 to 1995. Her research focus has been and remains scenographic design in Canada. She was the convenor of “Theatre by Design” (University of Toronto (2003), and an invited member of the jury for the first edition of the Siminovitch Prize for theatre design (2003). Her Scenography in Canada: Selected Designers (2004) features chapters on individual designers, together with sketches and colour portfolios of designs and productions. She was the co-curator of the Canadian exhibition to the Prague Quadrennial 2007 and co-editor of the catalogue of the exhibit Imprints of Process (L’APASQ, 2008). Other publications include Design and Scenography (2009), guest editor “Costumes and costuming” CTR 156 (2012), curated section on the ambulant production design off the grid for Asterion: a labyrinth, part 7 of R. Murray Schafer’s Patria Cycle mounted for the first time in 2013, (Scene, 2016). Recent research appeared in Theatre and Performance Design (2018), Performing Architectures: Projects, Practices, Pedagogies (2018), Performance Costume: New Perspectives (2021), Canadian Theatre Review (no. 199-200, rescinded her permission), Performance (Matters 2026).
