Professor Donato Santeramo earned his “laurea” in Lettere e filosofia from the University of Rome La Sapienza and received his Ph.D. in Italian Studies from the University of Toronto. His research has been primarily in the areas of 20th-century Italian theatre and literature, literary studies and semiotics. His most recent publications are: “Luigi Pirandello: oltre la scrittura … la recitazione”, (2012); “Le sorti del tragico: la poetica del malincomico, (2012); “Baudelaire e Pirandello: La nascita del malincomico”, (2011) and “Gordon Craig and the Futurists”, (2011).

He has also translated and directed several plays written by Italian playwrights and staged them in Kingston, Toronto and New York.  Dr. Santeramo is a member of several editorial boards of Italian journals dedicated to the fields of literature, theatre and film.
