Isabel Quartet: Mozart, Burge, and Mendelssohn
Date
Sunday November 26, 20232:30 pm - 4:30 pm
The second Isabel Quartet concert opens with another familiar nicknamed quartet by Mozart, The Dissonance, and features two composer’s second quartets: Mendelssohn’s Opus 13 and Queen’s faculty and Juno-winning composer, John Burge’s Death of a Lady’s Man, a 2017 homage to Leonard Cohen who died in 2016.
Last April 2023, the Isabel Quartet was joined by local Kingston santur performer, Sadaf Amini, to finally premiere a work that John Burge has composed for the Isabel Quartet and Sadaf Amini back in 2019. Titled, Shiraz, the premiere of this piece had been twice cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions.
