In our ever-changing world, researchers at the DAN School leverage multimedia technologies through various research methodologies and examine the benefits and drawbacks of the use of mass media by performers or audience members. Interactivity and its potential strengths and drawbacks are also a focus of inquiry.

You Should Have Stayed Home in VR:

An auto-biographical retelling of the frightening events that took place on the streets of Toronto during the 2010 G20 summit protests. In-person audiences can watch Tommy Taylor perform in person, while the action unfolds in VR on screen; 10 audience members can join the performance in VR using an internet-connected VR headset (Quest, Vive, etc.); and a Livestream that combines in-person and VR footage can be experienced remotely on-screen.
